Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is caused by the periodic collapse of the airway during sleep. This results in complete or partial obstruction of the airflow, and it is characterised as lasting for 10 seconds or more.
When left untreated, OSA can lead to conditions such as high blood pressure and increased risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes. OSA can also place a strain on your relationship with your sleeping partner and cause increased sleepiness.
