Tell me more about Dental Bridges.
A dental bridge uses crowns and existing teeth to create a literal ‘bridge’ to fill the gap in your teeth.
We create bridges using lightweight and comfortable materials. The crowns will be hand-shaped to match your existing teeth, mouth shape, and lip shape.
A dental bridge will redistribute the biting forces across your mouth, protecting your teeth from wear and preventing teeth from falling into the gap between your teeth.
Treatment Steps
Examination
Your dentist will comprehensively examine your teeth, soft tissues, and jaw. You must have healthy teeth available to support your dental bridge. If not, your dentist will explore alternative tooth replacement solutions with you, such as implants or dentures.
A 3d scan is taken of your mouth, allowing us to create a digital copy of your smile. This gives the dentist and dental technician valuable insight into how your teeth bite together.
Preparation
Your dentist will remove as little tooth structure as possible from the teeth on either side of the gap so that your crowns will sit comfortably and aesthetically over the top.
While your long-term bridge is being made in the dental lab, your dentist will give you a temporary bridge. This will protect your gum line and give you chewing ability while you wait.
Bridge fitting
This is the exciting part.
Your dentist will fit you with a brand-new long-term bridge and explain how to care for it daily.
