For those struggling with anxiety about dental treatments, we offer sedation to ensure a calm experience during necessary procedures.
Sedation: The Benefits
- Relax whilst you’re in the dentist’s chair.
- Helps lengthy procedures to pass by quickly.
- Amnesic effects – many patients have no recollection of their procedure under sedation.
- Time and time again, we have seen nervous patients’ confidence in visiting the dentist grow.
Tell Me More About Sedation
Conscious sedation implies you are not put to sleep and can respond to instructions.
Most patients report they can’t remember anything afterwards and that it’s similar to being asleep.
Conscious sedation in experienced hands is globally accepted as being safer than General Anaesthesia (GA). By administering sedation during dental treatments, we have managed to help those suffering from dental phobia or undergoing complex treatments. With intravenous sedation, the amount of drug given can be titrated to achieve the most relaxed state for you.
Conscious sedation can either be administered intravenously using a cannula on the back of your hand or orally. We recommend intravenous sedation, which is the most powerful and effective means of relaxing nervous patients.
Oral Sedation is a simple and needle-free method & ideal if you’re apprehensive. It involves taking a sedative liquid before your procedure, leading to a calm and relaxed state.
You will be closely monitored during the procedure. We will check your vitals and blood pressure to ensure the sedation is working.
A sedative drug is then slowly administered, and within minutes, the ideal level of sedation is achieved.
